Rene Gruau card collection @ officedog!

Rene Gruau: the very name has been synonymous with exquisite refinement and seductive flair for the past fifty years. In the 1940s and '50s, Gruau became the favourite illustrator of the world's haute couture - particularly Christian Dior, but also Hubert de Givency, Balmain, Schiaparelli, Balenciagoa dn Cardin. Combining a free and expressive use of line with a classical sense of restraint, Gruau created daring, sensual works of art that connoisseurs today compare with Toulouse-Lautrec.

AND HERE IS WHAT WE HAVE COMING IN A FEW WEEKS TIME....

We would like to draw to your attention an upcoming British artist 'Su Blackwell', who has not only feature in vogue but has tongues wagging as she is tipped to be the rising star of the global art scene.

Su Blackwell is an artist and art director, having recently worked on advertising campaigns for Volvo, Pilsner Urquell, and Cartier Store, Paris.

Su’s fine-art work was exhibited at the Museum of Art and Design, New York last year, and will be on display at The Bronte Parsonage Museum in Haworth, West Yorkshire later on this year.

”I often work within the realm of fairy-tales and folk-lore. I began making a series of book-sculpture, cutting-out images from old books to create three-dimensional diorama’s, and displaying them inside wooden boxes”.

”For the cut-out illustrations, I tend to lean towards young-girl characters, placing them in haunting, fragile settings, expressing the vulnerability of childhood, while also conveying a sense of childhood anxiety and wonder. There is a quiet melancholy in the work, depicted in the material used, and choice of subtle colour.”

Paper has been used for communication since its invention; either between humans or in an attempt to communicate with the spirit world. I employ this delicate, accessible medium and use irreversible, destructive processes to reflect on the precariousness of the world we inhabit and the fragility of our life, dreams and ambitions.

    About us:

Officedog offers you a combination of all the merchandise on sale at Officeshop and at Gift (our two popular outlets alongside the celebrated Clocktower in Crouch End, London N8).
Officedog is unique. We’ve taken special care in planning to meet the needs of home-office workers (journalists, writers, teachers and students) as well as those of self employed people and of anyone running a small business.

You probably come up against the problem of mail order stationers who only accept orders for unreasonably large quantities or multipacks of consumables. We certainly don’t expect you to buy more than you need and we’ll be delighted to send you single items or slim retail packs - in fact, we offer you exactly the same goods as we do over-the-counter, in Officedog and at Gift.

Our experience and enthusiasm enable us to pick well-designed stationery products that will offer you excellent value as well as featuring innovative designs. We actively eliminate inferior products and seek out items that co-ordinate well in functional terms and - whenever possible - design and colour. We sincerely hope this will save you valuable time in finding precisely what you need to equip your home office.

Because we are members of a leading UK consortium of independent office product suppliers, we at Officedog match the prices quoted by large nation-wide retailers so our customers will always get the best possible deal - fair pricing and all the benefits of dealing with a family business, committed to providing you with our best personal attention.
